I've been sick all week, and this week is homecoming week.  Which means, the marching band has been working really hard at practices, but because I basically can't breathe, I couldn't play or march.  Fuck.  So we had a performance tonight.  Kinda informal, no uniforms or anything, but a performance.  I couldn't play.  Because I currently can't breathe right.  And I talked to the band director earlier tonight, and basically, I'm at the point where I'm in danger of losing my place in the band.  Because I missed the first game, and I might miss tomorrows game, and if I miss one more..... well, it sucks.  And I want to scream and rage and punch things and cry and generally go batshit, but I can't because I have no voice and my life sucks.  Someone tell me I'm being irrational and whiny, because I need someone to knock some sense into me.  Real bad.

I think you're entitled to feel a little stressed, actually. And the band director does realize that you're not intentionally getting plague to miss out on games and you actually like being in the band, correct?

Here's some sense for you: have you been to the doctor for this? Even if it might be just a little bug, the fact that it's interfering with your life so badly suggests it might be a good time to get a doctor's excuse. And maybe hit the gym during a low-traffic time and beat the crap out of some bags.

Speaking of doctors, remember when I went to the doc for strep in the middle of August?

I just got a bill from the place I visited. For $107.62.
One, that's outrageous, and two, why the fucking fuck did it take them so long to mail this? Why couldn't they have mailed it during last month, when the days fell so that I got three paychecks, instead of now?

Yes, he realizes I'm not in control of something like this, but there's only so much leeway he can give when someone misses so many performances.

And yeah, I've been to the doctor twice. And I'm on 4 different meds for this thing. And the side effects make me loopy, slightly uncoordinated, and alternately tired and like I'm going to jump out of my skin. And the doc told me I probably shouldn't play or march this weekend. And I might just do that tomorrow if I'm feeling up to it.

Holy shit. That's ridiculous. Makes me really glad that the only thing I have to pay for when I visit the campus clinic is meds.

Hope you felt a little better today. How'd the marching go?

Maybe you need to see a different doctor. Fresh eyes couldn't hurt.

Oh, yay, I get to sleep now. My mom's in town and about the only time I had to see her was this morning. At noon. When I normally go to bed at 5:30. And it was before the third day of my three-day work weekend. Oh, sleep... but I won't be able to fall asleep for a little while longer, so I found The Fantastic Four in the $5 bin ('blasphemy!' and 'yay!' at the same time).
