So, it is 3 something in the morning, and I'm still awake.  Fuck insomnia.  At this point, I think I'm just insane.  Which, entirely possible.  Also, I don't think I've ever written as much fanfic as I have in the last few weeks.  It seems I've found my home fandom in Hawaii Five-0.  And apparently, watching SGA and having insomnia makes my brain come up with weird fic ideas.  Involving a, gasp, horrors! self-insert of myself as, oddly enough(or maybe not oddly, but just, well, not my actual field of study) a botanist with the gene who has bouts of insomnia.  Which, kinda weird, but not.  I did consider horticulture.  But anyways.  Despite all the fandoms I've gotten into(and out of) and written for, Hawaii Five-0 has definitely kicked it into high gear.

Also, according to [livejournal.com profile] shanachie_quill , I am Joe Flanigan.  Only, shorter, stockier, with lighter hair and internal reproduction.  I kept complaining about my cowlicks being itchy, and explained that I have seven of them on my head, and if I cut it really ridiculously short, it would do pretty much the same thing that his does.  And occasionally, they make my scalp itch whenever I touch them.

:D

Was bored, and biked down to blockbuster, and was mostly just wandering around looking at movies, kinda sorta trying to find Mirrormask(I didn't, btw), but I did find Tin Man.  So I rented the first "Volume" which is, basically, the first two parts.  And I adore Glitch.  So much. This is Glitch.  And DG, who is also pretty awesome.  But as much as I love Zooey Deschanel, Alan Cummings as Glitch just makes this so much better.  He's only got half a brain, and he has a zipper in his head from "having his marbles stolen" from him, and he tends to repeat himself, forget things/names/places, and is kinda ditzy, but so awesome.  I'm going to make a "Ha Ha!" icon with this picture.  :D  Also, I can't decide whether to ship Glitch/Cain, or Glitch/DG, because Glitch/Cain would be hilarious and kinda adorable, but Glitch/DG is really just adorable(and maybe slightly creepy, considering he was her mother's advisor, and is therefore lots older than her), and would generally be pretty kick-ass.

Also, he's pretty awesome in a fight.

The guy with the hat is Cain.

And it's just generally awesome because it's kinda a steampunk version of The Wizard Of Oz only, so much better than just a steampunk version of The Wizard Of Oz.

HARDISON!!! Hardison is in an episode of Bones!! **Squees**

That is all.
whogeek: Hatter grinning (Just a little Mad)
But first, a bit of freaking out.  Because tomorrow is the first football game, and because I'm in the marching band, I have to be up at the stadium at 9 for run-through, and I won't be done until after 7.  And I do not feel ready at all, partly because it is 9/11, and partly because I've been sick basically all week, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.  Fuck.

So, anyways.  Last weekend was kinda crazy.  Went home for the long weekend, YAY for having Monday off!  Which was, honestly, probably more stressful than it should have been.  Yeah.  But, I did get to go to a party with some friends (my best friend from high school's boyfriends 21st b-day party) and watched most everyone there get drunk, or at least buzzed/tipsy.  Although, the boyfriend did end up on the floor at one point, because "It's cooler than the sofa."  Honestly, he pretty much slid/rolled off the sofa, and was to uncoordinated to get up.  So that was pretty fun.  Then I went to see "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" with neighbors and mom, and we were quite pleased with the geek factor of it.  We were all quite baffled that it got such bad reviews.  It was supposed to be action/comedy, and it was.  You just needed to be pretty geeky to get a lot of the comedy.  Oh, and the shirt Dave (the protagonist) was wearing in the last bit?  This one.  Awesome.  I kinda yanked on my mom's arm and whispered urgently at her, and she totally missed what I was saying.... Both times.  XD  I'm really kind of annoyed that the reviewers didn't like it, because it's physics geek (who, honestly, isn't all that great looking and has a kinda funny voice) gets music geek, plus age-old romance finally fufilled.  And Tesla coils.  Lots of Tesla coils.  And awesome special effects.  :D  Geek heaven.  Especially some of the comic bits.  I seriously think all geeks should see it.  I want to own it.  :D

Anyways.  long day tomorrow, presuming I'm not dead from mega-cold.

I want to hear John Barrowman singing "Puttin' On The Ritz" so bad.  I'm not even entirely sure why, just that I do, because it would be awesome.

Also, I should resist the urge to explore new fandoms.  The ones I have are plenty, despite the exceptionally strong urge to watch White Collar now.  Someone please tell me I should not do this.

Also, Cat!Dean has taken over my brain courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] taylor_serenil and I'm torn between begging her to write some, and writing some myself.  **headdesk**  Although, I am very excited for the new season of Dark Blue!!  Although, I should finish/post the story I've been writing, but I'm a bit lost as to a title for it.  I'm very bad at titles.  And I really want to get this thing posted, so I can stop agonizing over tiny little mistakes and futzing with it and actually get around to writing the second chapter, even though I don't even have a title for the whole thing yet.

And I need to work on the CSI story that [livejournal.com profile] jetpack_angel  said I could write in her We Don't Die universe, except that Grissom doesn't make a very good muse, because he doesn't talk, he just notices things, and Nick get's really nervous about the most random things to get nervous about, and it's really annoying.  And Greg rambles like me, because he gets excited/nervous/worked up in any way and that's just what he does.  **Bangs head against wall**

In other words, my head is a very noisy, but very unproductive place.

EPIPHANY!!

I've been watching CSI all day/reading fanfic/doing laundry and I came to a realization about Greg Sanders.  A couple days ago I was watching one of the episodes from season 9 (the one where Langston and Reiley get held hostage) and I was discussing with my dad how much Greg's character has grown and matured over the course of the series.  The last episode to show on Spike just now was "Big Shots" where Aaron James (Demetrius James' brother) is involved in an investigation, and Ms. James starts yelling and screaming at Greg that he "Owes her" and all the shit that's happened to her family is on him and insulting him and such.  Now, before this point, Greg would have felt all guilty and just stood there looking like a kicked puppy, but he doesn't.  Instead, he turns and confronts her, and stands up for himself, because he shouldn't feel guilty about the choices Demetrius made, and the choices Aaron has made since then.  In my mind, I can pretty well point to that episode as the one where Greg really comes into himself.  It's actually really impressive.

Ok.  I am officially pissed.  I swear, there are some people who can make me go from relaxed and unworried to mad as a disturbed wasps' nest so fast.

**deep breath**

So, one thing I've gotten used to over the years is the usual fuss and furor over school reassignments each spring/summer for the local school district.  Parents squabble and complain for a little while but they get over it.  This year, things are different.  The idiot who ended up in charge of the school board is getting rid of the diversity policy so the school system can go back to "neighborhood" schools.  Now, one of the great things about living where I live is the schools.  NC gets a lot of transplanted yankees, many of whom are moving to raise their kids in a good school system.  Huh.  How about that?  Now, see, the county school system where I live has been a Nationally Recognized  school system ever since they started the diversity policy that's been in place for so long.  And the new head of the school board has decided that the best thing to do is dismantle it.  We get so many yankees moving down here because our schools are better!  Not just some of the schools in the good neighborhoods, but all of them.  And so this year, the debate over this decision hasn't died down, and parents and students aren't getting over it!  What does that tell you?  With the school reassignments, parents and students don't like them but they realize that it is a necessary mechanism to ensure that all students are given the same opportunities.  And another thing.  In the past when there's been a political issue locally, there are 3 high schools whose members are seen working side by side despite our own rivalry.  Same three schools every time, one of which I graduated from.  And the schools are three of the most diverse in our system, as well as magnet schools of various types.  And you want to dismantle the magnet program as well?  Magnet students have a wider world view because of the magnet program, rather than being totally from one class or race or area of the county, they come from all classes, all races, and all areas of the county.  And what really gets to me is what the head of the school board said about these young adults being active in the case!  He claimed that these teens, people who have drivers licenses, are being brainwashed/used by people as weapons.  At that age, if we want to do something politically, it is OUR decision.  Not our parents.  Not our teachers.  Not anyone but ourselves.  We are freethinking people, and perfectly capable of making our own decisions.  So basically, the guy's an ass.  And his days on the school board are numbered at this point.

So, now that I've bored you with my probably not so clear political-ish rambling I'll get to the bit of stupidity.  So I've been taking care of a neighbor's puppy while they were gone, which means taking her out every 2 hours or so.  Which means I had to get up at 6 to take her out.  So the other night, rather than going to bed around midnight, waking up around 5:50, going back to bed until 7-ish, and then being up for the day, I went to sleep at 4:50, and woke up at 7.... Heh.  Bad me.

Also, a couple weeks ago I was at the beach, and I saw some guy who I swear looked like Sam (from Burn Notice) except with longish hair.  And I mean, really looked like Sam.  It was pretty awesome/freaky.

So [livejournal.com profile] brilligspoons posted this earlier, and I was bored and decided to see what it spat out for me.  Started with some of my story bits and got  H.P. Lovecraft, Isaac Asimov, Chuck Palahniuk, and James Joyce.  Decided to crank one of my poems through and got Vladimir Nabokov.  A different poem got Stephen King..... What?  A third poem came up as James Joyce.  I don't think the thing is smart enough to recognize poetry when it gets it.  I wonder if they have one specifically for poetry?

This is my result for a story I might actually post on here that'll be longer than a one-shot/drabble.

Also, my local paper has this wonderword thing it does on Sundays, and this week it's all CSI stuff!!  I was really really psyched about that.

Also, I really, really, really can't wait to go back to school.  I love my parents.  I really do, but they get on my last nerves, because they pick at each other so much.  And I miss the mountains so damn much.  I hate this heat, because it's so freaking oppressive.  I mean, you go outside and I swear you get wet just walking.  And not just from sweat.  The mountains tend to be about twenty degrees cooler, and when it rains it actually helps the heat index, rather than making it worse.  I can handle heat.  I have no real problem with heat.  I was always one of the people closest to the fire (aka the one holding a stick and poking it) at camp and such.  But this wet heat absolutely kills me.

Lovelovelovelovelovelovelove Leverage!! So EPIC!!  Oh, man!  I cannot describe at this point how epic the new season is!  I'm so happy and excited!  And I totally enjoyed the little Parker/Hardison bit at the end of "The Reunion Job"
whogeek: greg in the hall post-explosion (Greggo Oww)
So... y'know how Spike runs old CSI episodes basically all day?  Episode right now is "Play With Fire" which is the one where Greg gets exploded.

O.O

I hate this episode as much as I love it.  Poor Greggo.

I went shopping this evening.  Headed over to Borders to see if I could use my gift cards up.  Spent an hour or so browsing through the Graphic Novels before I settled on two.  Almost bought the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" one, because it was full of Steampunkish awesome, but decided to get "The Unwritten" and "The Surrogates" instead.  Both of which should be good reads.  :D

After that I headed to Barnes & Noble and had trouble finding Alice, which I fell in love with when Sci-Fi showed it.  Had to ask they guy working for help, and we managed to find it in the Sci-Fi section under the "G"s.  **Facepalm**

But, very pleased with myself, because I manged to use up both Borders gift cards, and of the three B&N cards the last one has $3 and change on it.  :D

So, I went and bought conditioner yesterday, And I got the same stuff I've been getting for the past 2-3 years or so.  Today I finally get around to using it and what do I find?  They've changed the formula.  The new stuf REEKS!!  I kid you not.  I sneezed in the fucking shower.  Because of the goddamned perfume.  The old formula smelled nice, faintly tropical, and clean.  New stuff?  Smells like a truckful of coconuts slammed into a truckful of hibiscus.  Each scent on it's own is fine.  I'm not a fan of coconut, but it's not horrible.  Together?  Disgusting.  Absolutely horrendous.  I'm tempted to write a scathing letter telling them how much I don't like the new stuff.  And why is it that everything has to have fucking perfume in it?  I'm basically allergic to most perfumes!  I end up coughing/sneezing/unable to breathe because of some, and most just give me hellacious headaches.  It sucks.  Majorly.

Edit:  Also, I might be going to a friend's house for Stargate/cooking/girly giggle-fest/hanging out Thursday, which totally rocks.  Because tomorrow I'm transplanting my rosebush to next to the mailbox, because we never get anything out of it where it is.  By the mailbox we'll see it every day.  :D  I love my rose.  The blooms come out this lovely pale pink and the sun turns them this amazing magenta that's almost purplish.  Gorgeous.

So... I've been job hunting, and applying to just about every place I can think of, and a couple weeks ago I mentioned quashing the impulse to apply to Walmart, especially after all of [livejournal.com profile] jetpack_angel's horror stories about working there, but now I've gone and done it.  I applied to Walmart.  I'm an idiot.  I'm kind of shocked/horrified that I actually applied, but NO ONE has contacted me and said "Yes, we'll hire you!"  I JUST WANT A GODDAMNED SUMMER JOB!!  **deep breath** I'm ok, really...... Well, no, I'm not really ok.  Someone hit me.

Although, I did find an awesome music matrix thing. inoyan.narod.ru/musicmatrix.swf  I cannot stop coming up with awesome patterns and images to draw in it.  It uses binary to describe each of the squares, so when squares are lit, you get a string of 16 numbers, and if you copy and paste a string into the matrix, it takes the numbers and makes music with them!  I've got a notepad thing full of number strings. :D  I'm such a geek.

OK, So I was cruising around FB and I ran across a link that looked interesting.  I clicked on it and it took me to the website of an improv group.  And it is hilarious.  I mean, side-splittingly good.  And it really helps if your a geek.  Or at least have some geeky tendencies.

http://improveverywhere.com/2010/05/18/who-you-gonna-call/

You have to watch the video.  And then scroll through the pictures, and there's one of just before things get crazy, where you can see a bunch of people taking pictures of what's going on, and one of the guys looks like he could pass for Hardison.  That made me laugh really hard!

So yeah.... enjoy my geekyness.

OK.  So, earlier, I was talking to some friends about something to do with Romans and Jews and the whole animosity between the two, and I got distracted by what I was saying.....  I felt very silly, until I remembered what I was going to say, and why it was important to the conversation.  I hit myself in the head when it came to me, and I realized how much I sound like Daniel Jackson when he gets all excited about something when I get excited about a subject, because I talk fast and I tend to stutter over my words, or repeat words several times before my mouth catches back up with my brain.  It was a very geeky realization, considering I get excited about similar subjects......

So, it has just hit me that EXAMS ARE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!! AND I HAVE SHITLOADS OF WORK TO DO!!  AND TESTS!!  AND QUIZZES!!  AND PAPERS!!!  AND PROJECTS!!  AND OHFUCKDEARGODI'MGONNADIE!!!!!!!

Ok, now that I'm done spazzing about that.  Went to the library to get a couple books for said projects/papers, and the books have to be on archaeology, although, I think technically I'm supposed to be getting published research papers, but whatever.  Anyways, so I'm browsing through the Archaeology section, which is worryingly small might I add, and run across a name that catches my interest because I know that name, and the fact that it's on an archaeology book is so ironic in all sorts of squee-worthy ways.  And that name?  Michael Shanks.  I kid you not.  I will take a damn picture of the title page to prove it if I must.  Oh, and the really ironic thing is the title itself: "Experiencing The Past."  I kid you not, that is the title of the book.  But yeah, that made me squee madly.

Hey [livejournal.com profile] jetpack_angel ,

I hate you.  And at the same time, I absolutely love you.

Let me count the ways:
1) Dark Blue
2) Burn Notice
3) Leverage

You kill me with all these shows.  I can't resist!  Because they all have amazing sexyness, and plenty of action.  And quite a lot of explosions. :D

So yes, I hate you.  But at the same time, you have made me a very happy fangirl.

Sincerely,
WhoGeek

Edit: Also, Eliot Spencer is the shit.  I want him to cook for me.  And punch a few assholes around campus for me. XD

So I just looked at the time on my computer, and it was 3:33 AM.  And the first thing that pops into my head is the scene from CSI: NY where Mac and Stella are talking to the voodoo woman with the numbers on her eyelids, and the voodoo woman is telling them that 333 is "The son of the devil 666."  Which led me to the whole 333 stalker thing.

**headdesk**

I need to get out more, and stop being so thorougly geeky.

Edit:  Was at my school's football game: 3rd down on the 33 yard line.  Nearly squealed in geekyness.
