Fucking, stupid, inane pop songs.....

I swear, the next time that fucking song starts running through my head, I'm going to run my head through the fucking wall. Just to make the damned thing stop playing in me head. It's a shitty song too. And I want it out of my head permanently, but it won't ever be out of my head, because I've got a friggin' musical brain. Which means I can hear a song once and remember a good portion of the melody, having disected it from the counter-melody, harmony, counter-harmony, back-beat, continuing parts, etc, etc. After 3 or 4 listenings, I can sing quite a few of the lyrics, and it will be permanently in my head. So that shitty music video is now officially stuck in my head, because I'm not quite fast enough with the mute button. And the girl singing it looks like a slut. And the song is slutty too, which I might have been able to handle if it wasn't so fucking blatant, but they don't even try to hide the fact that the song is about sex. At least "I Can See For Miles" and "Pictures of Lily" are subtle. And the music isn't even all that original or complex. It's the same damn notes and rhythms over and over again. Probably the simplest song I've hear in a while. And simple isn't necessarily bad. Simple can be very pretty or fun. But this fucking song is neither pretty or fun. It's Goddamned annoying as shit. And the singer tries to look cutesy, but she only succeds in looking like a slut. A ridiculous slut too. The video is shit. The music is shit. The lyrics are shit. The singer is shit. The whole thing is shitty.

I'm the same way with music. And I'll tell you what's bad, have you ever seen a movie called Cannibal: The Musical? It's actually funny as hell, but unfortunately every time I see or hear the word 'snowman' now I get that one damn song stuck in my head and it will not stop. Damn how catchy it is. And now I want to see that movie again.

One reason I wear an mp3 player at work is because the 'stupid kids' and my supervisor are both fatally enamored with the Popular Music radio station that plays the same goddamn pop and almost-rap songs over and over and over and over and over and over and over--repeat ad nauseum. And to fill the small quota of rock music, it's usually either "Never Too Late" by 3 Days Grace (which I actually like) or that other one that goes "Never gonna dance again the way I danced with you."

I'm just glad that goddamn "I Kissed A Girl" song by Katy Perry has fallen by the wayside, because if I ever meet her in person I'm gonna shove a live wire up her ass so at least she'll have a reason to sound like that, the way she does whenever she sings that motherfucking song. Although, amusingly enough, I read in a tabloid that she got chased out of a dyke bar by a throng of angry lesbians. That made me LOL.

My big problem with music is that I end up having anywhere from 3 to 7 songs playing in my head at once. Which is why I listen to music when I'm doing homework. It drowns out the ones in my head so I can actually focus on what I'm doing. .... I read a CSI story where that's why Greg listens to music so loud..... Hot damn. That suddenly makes sense.

I hate those stations. They piss the hell out of me, because they act like the only music that's worth listening to is what they're playing. **growls**

I totally missed that song. Never heard it, and I don't want to. I was too busy listening to my CDs and radio stations that play the older but better music to ever hear it. And that is incredibly LOL.

i found a french internet station called "nostalgie rock!" and obviously it plays exactly what it says on the tin. sadly it has a playlist of about 20 songs which means after a day or two you can't take any more, even if you do love the music. they play the who a lot, as well as the kinks, beatles, stones, creedence, floyd (apart from the 26 minute ones), hendrix, lynyrd skynrd, all that kind of stuff. it's pretty good apart from the limited nature of it. maybe only a small portion of good music ever makes it to france!

as for katy perry, i find it really weird how the lesbian community is so divided over it - half of them think she's hot and want to fuck her, the other half hate her for undermining their struggle for acceptance. frankly, i'm with the second lot. even though she is kinda hot.

i know how you feel, i'm always getting shit songs going around in my head, the annoying thing is i have a lyrics brain so even just hearing them once they get stuck in my head, but always the same couple of lines, over and over and over again. argh! earlier today i heard hero by mariah carey and it was lodged in my brain all day which was a living hell. i got rid of it but of course now i've mentioned it again....

as for subtlety, yes, those ones are, but what about squeezebox?!!
